slight breeze in the evening; dance below.
Sunday Aug 4th
An extremely rough morning; a very high
sea [running?] which is repeatedly coming
over the side and causing infinite
amusement among the people by giving
a shower bath to those on deck who are
unable to get out of the way. One
large wave quite as high as the main-
sail came over and soaked me through
making me feel so chilly and miserable
that I went to bed and remained there
all day. I think up the whole that it
is quite as rough a day as I ever
experienced at sea. Almost every body
is sea-sick again
Monday Aug 5
Much calmer than yesterday although
the sea is still very high; head wind
Tuesday Aug 6th
A pleasant day, but we have a head
wind; sea remaining very high. We
have a great deal of speculation
