rolled and pitched and tossed as I never saw

and as we are now sailing gently along with
a gentle breeze I think we must be out of
the rough Irish Channel where the seas

Thursday July 25th

A fine day, very cool easterly wind; not very
well this morning; sat on the forecastle
looking for porpoises, saw several ships; spoke
one; spent the evening looking at the setting
sun and the gorgeous clouds out of which
we imagined the most lovely landscapes. Before
going to bed it got quite squally.

Friday July 26

Woke up this morning very unwell; and as
it was a squally rainy morning I went
to bed where I remained all day

Sunday July 28

Yesterday was almost a dead calm, and
we have had a most beautiful Sunday
with a fair wind but very light.
