the Docks and shipping with which they were
filled. In the afternoon I crossed the river
to Birkenhead Park a most lovely spot.
In the evening after a hearty meal at the
boarding house I went to the Theatre Royal
to an entertainment by the [Chrisby's?] Minstrels.
On Wednesday I strolled about the town
looking at the various objects of interest
until six oclock when I met Lizzie at
Lime St Station. We had supper and
a walk, and then sat for an hour upon
the noble portico of St Georges Hall.
On Thursday Lizzie and I took a walk
to see the ship, after which we crossed
the river and spent several hours in
Birkenhead Park. We then returned and
visited the Museum in which is a large
collection of curiosities, but of course
nothing in comparison with the British
Museum in London. After tea we took a
stroll and rested for an hour on St.
George's Porch. We retired early pretty
much tried out. Friday we spent pretty
much the same way except we visited
