pretty much all the time between the stations
and as the night was bitterly cold I was
not sorry when we reached Liverpool which
we did in early morning about half past
three. Through the recommendation of
the guard we obtained lodging at a
respectable house in the vicinity of the
station, and opposite to the celebrated
St George's Hall said to be the finest
building in England. Here I stopped
till Saturday, and as I had nothing to
do after securing our passage, I had a
fine opportunity of looking around the town.
On Monday morning I walked down to the
Office and secured the berths, and in the
afternoon I took a ride on the Mersey on
one of the numerous ferry boats plying on
that river. In the evening I went to
the Star Music Hall. Went to bed pretty
well tired out. On Tuesday I walked
down the line of the Docks to have a look
at the ship then lying in Bramley Moor
Dock; afterwards strolled down looking at
