St Margarets Lothbury; heard an excellent
sermon on "Christs temptation on the Mount"
by some gentleman whose name I did not
hear. dined at Uncles. At four oclock I
met Mr. Purslow and accompanied him to
Mr Wheeler's where we had tea; afterward
he and I and Miss Wheeler went to the
Wesleyan Chapel, Kings Cross where we heard
and excellent sermon by Rev [More Pomebon?]
had supper at Mr. Wheeler's and returned home.

Friday May 4th 1867

Being a fine day I went up to the top of the
Monument during my dinner hour. From
here a most magnificent view could be
obtained of London, but the atmosphere
being rather thick we could not see dis
tinctly to any great distance. It is a
most tiring job to ascend it by a circular
staircase inside; the column being 202
feet high.

Sunday May 6th

Lizzie and I went up to Aunt Milton's
and spent the day there. After dinner
Harvey and I took a walk around Stoke
