up and down can be seen. We did not
sit down to dinner till after three. After-
wards there were songs, toasts and speeches;
with plenty of wine of which all partook
pretty freely, and the consequence was, that
when the party broke up at eight o'clock
everybody was pretty tight. We stopped in
the gardens till nine, when I returned
with a lot more by the Tilling line
to London, and thence from London Bridge
to New Cross.

I went up to London this morning, although
I did not feel very well. Before going to
Uncles, I took a stroll through the New
Southwark St. and across Blackfriars
Bridge. After tea Miss D. & I took a
short walk.

Sunday July 22

We took a wal kthis morning to the
hills back of Peckham from which
we had a fine view of London.
I went with Tom and his wife to tea
at Mr Brain's.
