off the [bowlport?] of the Ipswich steamer
below bridge. Having landed we
entered the gardens not without difficulty
however owing to some misunderstanding
about the entrance fee, which at length
was settled satisfactorily, and after
admiring the beautiful and lovely spot
which seems almost the perfection of beauty
we had a lunch in the grand dining
room, which we enjoyed heartily.
The party then took flies or cabs, or
visited different parts of the country
on foot. Our party to the number of
six, viz; Carpenter, Smith, Lake, Wadley,
Bennett and myself, visited the village
of Singlewell about four miles from
Rosherville, across the country. We put
up at the "George" and engaged a glass
of the celebrated [Pabham?] ale. We reached
Rosherville at half past two, in time to
have a stroll around the grounds before
dinner, and a view from the top of
the tower, from which the adjacent
country and the river for many miles
