Saunder's a friend of Tom's at Lewisham
where we spent the evening and had supper.
We reached home about one o'clock.

Sunday July 8th 1866

This morning we took a walk along the
Brighton railway. This evening we took
a walk across the park to the Standard
ten gardens.

Monday July 9th

Tom and I went this evening to the
Princess Theatre, saw a splendid play
called "The Hugenot Captain".

Sunday July 15th

Yesterday the annual dinner of the
employe's of Causton & Sons, otherwise
called the "Ways [Gorde?]" took palce at [Kosher?]-
ville gardens, Gravesend. Nearly all of us to
the number of sixty-five went by the
steamer Palmerston, which left Swan Pier
at half past nine, and after a steady
run of two hours we reached our destination
safely, having damaged two vessels however
on our journey; crushed one of the penny
boats against the pier on starting and swept
