I returned by way of the North London
railway and reached home about eleven,
pretty well tired out.

Friday June 1st 1866

Went this evening to the Surrey Theatre;
saw the English opera of "Don Giovanni".

Sunday June 3rd.

Went up to London; took a ride up
the river to Chelsea. In the evening
Uncle and I went to Victoria park by
North London railway.

Monday June 4th

Poor Eliza Winkworth who has been living
and lingering with us for the past eighteen
months, died this morning at our house.
She has been a sufferer all her life from
some spinal complaint which bent her
nearly double, she suffered from other
diseases as well.

Saturday June 9

Eliza was buried today a Brockley Cemetary.
I was not at the funeral
