Cousin Emma and others.

Sunday May 27

Went up to see John Mullens at Holloway.
Went by omnibus from London Bridge
to the Angel and walked the rest of
the way. Before dinner John and I had
a most delightful walk across the
lovely meadows surrounding Hornsey,
Highate &c. The country is now in
its freshest and openest constitution,
and the shower of last night made
every thing look so sweet, and so refreshing
that it was quite a treat to a person
who like myself is shut up within
brick walls all the year round, and
who hasn't the chance to catch a breath
of fresh air probably more than once
a year. We walked for about eight
miles, and then returned to dinner.
After dinner we sat in the garden
and conversed with the two old
