enabled me to hear the concert with a
greater degree of comfort than heretofore.
The concert was exactly the same as before,
the programme, not having been varied in
the least. The weather was fine, and many
were out. I returned home comfortably, pretty
well knocked up.

Sunday Apr. 1st 1866

This morning Tom and I did a bit of
gardening having dug up and prepared
the ground for planting. After dinner
we took a walk to inspect the ruins
of a convent, recently discovered in
digging the foundations for a church,
in our neighborhood. After tea we took
a walk with Mr Whittall down the
Greenwich road, and meeting Mr. Brain
we adjourned to the Portland House
where we spent an hour.

Wednesday Apr. 4

Went this evening to a supper at the
Saracen's Head, Cammomile St. which
was got up among ourselves at the shop.
