Went to St. Mary's Greenwich, evening service

Monday Dec. 25th

Christmas day again, third I have seen in
London. David at Uncle's with the old people
only. Went to morning service at St. Margarets
[Cushling?]; heard a thrilling sermon appropriate
to the day by Mr Rowdell.

Tuesday Dec. 26

Being Boxing night, I went to the Strand
Music Hall.

Sunday Dec. 31

A very rainy disagreeable day. At home
all morning; took tea at Mr. Whittall's.

Tuesday Jan. 2nd 1866

Went to Astley's to see the Pantomime;
it was very good but during the changes
of the transformation scene a fire
broke out on the stage which caused
the greatest confusion for a little
while. However they succeeded in putting
it out when order was restored and
the piece proceeded, without any casualties
having occurred. The panic was terrific
while it lasted.
