Sunday Aug. 27

Went to church this morning; St. John's Lewisham
road; took a wal kthis evening to Brockley Jack.

Monday Aug. 28

I have received a little promotion at [Causton's?]
being appointed Warehouseman or stock-keeper.
I entered in my new duties today.

Sunday Sept. 3rd

Went up to London; went to St Paul's morning
service. After ten walked as far as the Angel
with Maryann.

Saturday, Sept 9

My wages were raised this evening by Mr.
Causton to twenty-four shillings per week.

Sunday Sept 10

Took an excursion today down the
river to Sheerness to see the Great Eastern
which is now anchored near that place.
I left London Bridge on board of the
Alexandra, a steamer built in the
American Style, which is causing a great
sensation here. It was a beautiful day
and we had a very pleasant trip of
seventy miles down the river and one
