Sunday July 23rd

A very showery day: this evening Tom and I
walked to East Greenwich to see the Brain's.

Tuesday July 25

Jewell and I went this evening to the
Working Men's Industrial Exhibition held in
Floral Hall, Covent Garden. It was very
interesting, most of the articles being the
product of the working man's industry and
ingenuity: there was a vocal and instrumental
concert in addition, most of the performers
being evidently from the humble walks
of life.

Sunday July 30

Spent a very quiet day at home; took
a morning walk to Greenwich Park. Aunt
and Mrs. Maloney were down to tea.

Saturday Aug. 5th 1865

Had a holiday today: went by train to
Charing Cross; walked across St Jame's and
Green Park's, to the South Kensington museum
where I spent fours hours examining the
countless works of art which are to be
found there. I went to see Prof. Anderson
