Sunday June 5th 1865

Last Friday I worked all night; and
last evening for a change I took the boat
and had a pleasant ride to Greenwich.
This morning Tom and I had a walk
along the railway. After ten we had a
stroll in Greenwich Park, across the heath
and returned through Lewisham.

Sunday June 11th

Went up to London and spent the day
with Uncle. Before dinner I went up the
river by boat to Westminster and had
a walk in the Park. After tea Miss
Dunn and I went to Victoria park
to hear the band, which discoursed
some excellent music, consisting of polkas
lively waltzes, and other [ans?] not very
appropriate to the day. there was an
immense crowd of people listening
to the music, some promenading about,
and I noticed some dancing to the
music. Victoria Park is very prettily laid
out, with ornamental Lakes, and
walks, bordered with flowers, and is
