saw "Lady Andley's Secret"; and "St
Mary's Eve".

Sunday May 28

Thomas, Walter, and I took a morning
walk to Blackheath and the park. As
the day was fine and clear we stopped
a few minutes on the Point, to catch
the air, and to enjoy the fun view of
London which can be obtained when
the weather is fine. Under this Point
there is a cavern, called Jack Cade's cavern
which is celebrated in the history of [?]
individual, but the access to it is now
closed. I wrote a letter this afternoon.
After tea Tom, his wife and I with two
of the Misses Chapman took a walk
along the Brighton Railway.

Tuesday May 30

Went to [Assleys?] Theatre; saw the
English opera of "Cinderella".

Wednesday May 31

Took a walk in the Borough to
see the return from the Derby. There
were the same scenes as last year.
