Tuesday Dec 27

Went this evening to the Deptford Institute
to see [Basic?] Young in his entertainment
called "The [Asergies?".

January 1st 1865

The beginning of the new year has been very
changable as regards the weather. Early this
morning there was a slight sprinkle of snow
and two or three times throughout the day
but the afternoon has been fine
I have no changes to record since last
year. Everything remains exactly the same
and I begin to think that London life
as regards the working people like my self
[?] is the most monotonous life in
existence. Every day is the same thoughout the
year. I have been here many months now
and I have not contracted a single
friendship or succeeded in getting
into any society; in fact I don't think
there is any society to get into. I am
beginning to get heartily sick of it
Went up to London and and spent the
day with Uncle T.; went to St Stephen's
