It was nearly four before we left and
I slept at Mr. Jewell's.

Went this evening to a lecture at Milton
St Chapel in "[Manivah?] Past and Present"
but being very tired from the pleasures
of last night I did not enjoy it much.

Wednesday Nov. 9

I went this evening to Deptford Fair,
plenty of amusements going on but they
seemed to me of the most gloomy, cheerless
character. I went into one of the travelling
theatres, called the "Princiess." The admission
being one penny; the entertainment consisted
of a short play, of a very sensational character
acted by the most vulgar, commonplace people
who when they had acted their part mixed
among and chatted with the audience.
I did not stop long, for it was soon over,
when the place was cleared and [settled?]
with a fresh lot. The air was very chill
and I was glad to get home and to bed.

Went up this evening to see Uncle Thomas,
had a game of cribbage, and one of which
