Sunday Aug. 28th
Spent a very quiet day at home after
my holiday of yesterday. L. and I took a
walk to Greenwich and called on Mr.
Bishop. This evening he and I have been
for the doctor little Lizzie being very ill.
Wednesday Aug. 31
Mr. Jewell and I had a walk this evening;
we went up Thames St. had a look at
the [Limes?] Printing Office in Printing
House Square; had a look at the interior
of St. Brides Church Fleet St; went through
the Temple, that curious collection of
antiquated buildings, so often spoken of
by Dickens; through Lincoln's Inn Fields,
where the Lawyers must do congregate; looked
in at the Mechanics Institution, passed
through Staples Inn into Holborn, where
we called in at St. Albans Church a
Puseyite place of worship; from there I
returned to London Bridge Station.
Sunday Sept. 4th 1864
At home all day had a walk before dinner
to Greenwich Park, after dinner wrote a
