Sunday Aug. 7th/'64
A very warm day; this morning T.
and I took a short stroll and
called on [[Fred Norris]]. After tea
T. and I in company of [[Mr. Lieddie]]
took a walk to [[Brockley Jack]] and
returned along the [[Brighton Railway]].

Sunday Aug 14th
Yesterday was my twenty-fourth
birthday and the second I have
spent away from home. Today [[Uncle T]].
had a little party in honor of the
occasion. We spent the day in a very
agreeable manner the usual healths
being drunk over the wine after
dinner. At length as the afternoon was
drawing toward a close and as we
felt tired and sleepy I suppose from the
effects of the wine and the sultry after-
noon, a little tour was proposed to the
top of the tower or turret of the church
of [[St. Giles Cripplegate]]. [[Mr. Mullins]] and
I having procured the keys from the
sexton. [[Mr. Johns]] who was only too
