Monday, May 2nd 1864
This evening Jewell and I went to St.
Bride's Fleet St to hear the Annual
Sermon of the Missionary Society, by
Canon Boyd.

Tuesday May 3rd
Jewell and I went this evening to Bow
Church Cheapside. This is one of the
oldest churches in London and celegrated
I believe. There was an excelent sermon
by Canon Miller of which we only heard
a part.

Thursday May 5th
Today the streets have been filled with
Parish Charity children in their odd
looking dress, parading about with long
sticks in their hands. I noticed that
every now and then a lot of them would
halt and on being directed they would
apply their sticks with great noise and
fury to some part of the building or
wall before which they were standing
accompanying the beating with loud
