As there happened to be no class, we con-
cluded to take a little trip to the country.
Mounting an omnibus at the Mansion
House we rode as far as Flemington where
we called at the house of his brother-in-law
and where we met his brother and sister
when we concluded to visit Dulwich some
three miles out. We reached it in an
hour's time and stopping at the Plough
we had some ale by way of tea. We
then engaged a walk through some lovely
meadows which at this season are so
green and fresh and then walked
back to town stopping at a Public House
styled "The Fox Under the Hill" for some
refreshments. I called for a few minutes
with Mr. Hales at his house. Reached home
at half past nine.

Wednesday Apr. 13
This evening Mr. Jewell and I went to
the Oxford Music Hall. We went to
Hungerford by penny boat. This afternoon
I saw Garibaldi proceeding along King Wm.
Street in an barouche and [fours?].
