Mr. York and others. Mr Y. is a very jovial old
chap and boasts of having taken a pony
to the top of the monumnet and of St. Pauls.
He is a fishmonger in the city.

Sunday Jan. 17
Very wet and disagreeable. Went to Deptford
Church morning service. At home the rest
of the day.

Sun. Jan. 24
A very fine day; went up to London, and
spent the day at Uncle T. After dinner
I went to see Uncle William and my
two Aunts. They live in Carthusian St.
Charter House Square. They seem to be very
reserved and not inclined to be sociable.
I saw at Uncle Williams a portrait of Papa
taken between thirty and forty years ago.
Went to St. Paul's special service.

Sunday, Jan. 31
After work last evening Mr. Causton
took me to Guildhall to see the evolutions
of the 3rd London Rifles. Afterwards we
attended a meeting of the Corps at a
room in Aldersgate [St?]. There we accompanied
