We returned to Uncle Thomas' to tea and
after tea Mrs D. + I started off for the
[Grecian?] Theatre but we arrived too late
and the doors were closed, the house being
filled. We then made a call on Mr.
Whittall and on Mr. Mullins; returned
by omnibus, took supper and returned to
New Cross.

Sunday Dec. 27
A very fine day. Went to the Old Church
Deptford this morning with Thomas.
Spent the afternoon and evening at
Mr. [Brains?].

Jan. 1st 1864
New Years Day has been very fine; the sun
shone bright and warm. I see that very
little notice is taken of this day in England.

Jan. 2nd
The coldest day we have yet had this
winter; tried to snow this morning.
After work went to see Uncle T. had supper
and a game of whist.

Jan. 3rd
Went up to London today; went to St. [?]
