and I like her much. Mrs Dunn and I went
to the French Chapel Aldersgate St. The service
is the same as the church but is all sconducted
in French. Last evening I got home early
that is at 8 o'clock and Thomas and I took
a walk to Greenwich and called upon his
friend, a Mr. Norris, a pewterer.

Monday Sept. 7th
Been steady at work all day; quit at seven
took a walk through the Boro of Sothwark
and after returning home had a stroll
through the busy Town of Deptford. Deptford
is principally celebrated for its Royal Arsenal
and Dockyard, by which a great number
of its inhabitants are supported. It is not
open to visitors without a permit.

Wednesday Sept 8th
This has been a dark gloomy day. I don't
think I ever saw anything like it; at
four o'clock it got so dark, that the gas
had to be lighted. This evening our neigh-
borhood was generally disturbed by a
fight among the [?couple?] living just back
of us at New Cross. Principally [?] I
