Logic IV. 84
Books II III and IV form ian inseparable whole a question being started at the beginning of Book II and an argument about it being commenced which is not completely unil the end of Book IV when the decision is made and the discussion wound up. This question is suggested apparently by the matter of Book IX where three goods are recognized. Book II also begins by recognizing three goods but the division has been more maturely thought out and is much clever. The first class consists of enjoyment and innocent pleasure from which nothing subsequently results other than the enjoyment. The second consists of states equally desirable in themselves and in their consequences. The third class consists of actions not particularly enjoyable in themselves perhaps even disagreeable but valuable for their effects 357 BC. This division being admitted the question is into which division we are to put honesty
