held in Athens on the 15th of August 1903. We
recommend that five hundred dollars or whatever
part of that sum which may be needed be appropriated
by the Board of Trustees of Ohio University to be used
at the discretion of the Finance Committee of the
Board for the purpose of defraying the expences incident
to the preparation for the proper observance of the
one hundredth anniversary of the establishment of the
Ohio University.

President Ellis and Messrs. Jones and Copeland
were unavoidably absent at the meeting of the
Committee- A letter file Stationery, and a
Stenographers pay for perhaps a month, will
Constitute the Chief items of expense.
It is not expected that
the whole amount will be needed , but it
was thought best to recommend the appropriation
of a sum sufficiently large to guard against
lack of funds for all necessary expences, and
provide that the portion unused should remain
in the hand of the Treasurer of the University as a
part of the general fund.

money petitioned for was not sufficient an amount
and Mr Foster moved that the sum of $800.00 be
appropriated out of the general fund of the Ohio
University for the use of the Ohio University Centennial
Committee to be expended under the direction and
approved of the Finance Committee which motion
