Mr. Wood moved that we proceed to ballot for
a President of the Ohio University which motion
was duly seconded and unanimously adopted,
and by direction of the Chairman a ballot of the
Board was then taken which resulted in twelve (12)
yea votes for Dr Alston Ellis, nat votes non, and being
the unanimous vote of all the members of this
[inserted] Election
of Pres. O.U
continued [end inserted] Board present at this meeting , and thereupon
the Board unanimously adopted the motion
of Mr Davidson above copied, and thereupon the
Chair declared that Dr Alston. Ellis had
been unanimously elected as President of the
Ohio University until the 1st day of July
1904 with a salary at the rate of $3500.00
per year, said salary to take effect from and
after August-1st [crossed out] 1904 [end crossed out] 1901.

Pres. [end inserted] Mr Wood moved that a committee of three
consisting of Messrs. Davidson- Foster and Lene
be appointed to inform Dr. Ellis of his unanimous
election as President of the Ohio University by this
Board and to escort him to this meeting, which
motion was duly seconded and adopted.

Bonds of
Aud + Treas [end inserted] On motion of Mr Douglas duly seconded and
adopted the bond a A.J. Frame as Treasurer of the
Ohio University in the sum of $30.000.00. was
received and approved and ordered to be placed
on file - On motion of V. C. Lowrey duly seconded
and adopted the bond of L. M Jewett as Auditor of the
Ohio University in the sum of $1.000.00. was
received approved and accepted and ordered

advice Dr Ellis of his election, came into the meeting
escorting Dr. Alston. Ellis the newly elected President
of the Ohio University who was warmly congratulated
by all of the members of the Board, and thereupon
the Secretary read to Dr Ellis the motion of
Mr Davidson herein before copied [inserted] and [end inserted] unanimously adopted
by the Board electing Dr Ellis as President of the Ohio [inserted] university [end inserted]
