[Saturday, September 1, 1951]

Up early, had breakfast about
9:30 and left almost im-
mediately for the auction
at Paul's house. The day
was miserable and the
crowd of people were
milling in and out of the
house with wet shoes
and dripping umbrellas.
Some articles were being
auctioned off on the lawn
in a pouring rain. We bot 0
and returned home, but
later I drove Annie to Dan-
bury to get shoes. I spent 1.24
and we returned and I helped
Margie with dinner and
let her leave early enough
to get the 6:16 to N.Y. We
cleaned up and I retired
about 1:30 + what with the
late show and everything.
