Mr. William Butter

Sir

I duly rec’d your fav’r requesting to be imformd the
prices of whale bone & the several sorts of oil. No bone nor whale oil yet
got to market. Bone is like to be in demand, thought will fetch ¾ per (tt?).
Whale oil if the voyages be successfull will be cheap, but at present there
is no assertaining the price. Sperma beti brown oil is more £18.13.4
white d’o about £20. The sperma beti southern voyages are not more
then middling if that. Having no advices of the other whalemen, we are
ignorant of their success on the whole as the number of whaling vessells
of both sorts are much increasd this year. If they meet with but middling
success, the quantities must be equal, if not superior to what we have ever
had in one year. The 5 bbs liver oil went per Wimble who saild from
hence then 19th inst’t & is doubtless (if well) arrived with you before now. I am

Your hum’l servant

Liver oil 44/, but it will be lower in
proportion to the price of whale oil ---
Blubber 13/4 --
