Boston June 15th, 1765

Mr. John Hanson

Sir

Herewith you have copys of Capt. Hezekiah Welch’s
& William Sheppards letters, by Capts. Elwell & Callender who arriv’d
this day, we hear that Capt. Welch’s brigga. was seiz’d. This youl receive
by my nephew Mr. Henry Smith to whom must desire you’l give
security for the hire of the brigantine Samuel & any other damages
that may fall on me from the conduct of your factor at Wilmington.

As I undertook the negotiating this business intirely depending on your honor
& not suspecting from the information I rec’d from you that there could be
any risque, I have so situated my affairs that it will put me to extream
difficulty to get thro’ it should the vessell not return, nor I have any
thing in my hands wherewith to raise the money for the freight, & what
will for ought I know render the hardship still more shocking the being
oblig’d to pay for the vessell as well as the freight. Place yourself in a
like disagreeable situation & I am sure you will not think my request
unreasonable, I am

inform you everything respecting the state of our family & the cause of
his errand, prevents my enlarging further then to intreat that you
will come here as soon as your affairs will permit so as to give us
as much time as you can. Mrs. Hatch has mentiond her desire of
having Betseys interest which youl please to put me in a
way to comply with, I am
