Transcription Conventions

  • Use [illegible] for words you cannot make out, or your best guess with a question mark, ex. [domesticus?]
  • DO NOT use Advanced Markup techniques; they will not export properly into our system
  • TIP: Scientific names are tricky. Put your best guess into Google and see what comes up!
  • Line Breaks: Hit Enter once after each line ends. Two returns indicate a new paragraph, whether indicated by a blank line or by indentation in the original.
