About
The Farfel Notebooks document each manuscript and printed leaf that Dr. Farfel acquired over the course of his many years of collecting. There are 13 notebooks total. Each is a simple lined spiral-bound notebook familiar to most students. Dr. Farfel began his first notebook with leaf #1. Thereafter he numbered each leaf he acquired, and wrote in his notebook about it. Thus the notebooks proceed sequentially and provide great insight into Dr. Farfel as a collector and into his collection process. We can see how his interests evolved and expanded over time, identify patterns in his collecting, and so much more. These are a fantastic resource that have yet to be studied by anyone. The type of information Dr. Farfel documented in his notebooks generally includes: his assigned leaf number, date of purchase, place of purchase, dealer purchased from, relevant bibliographic citations, and varying levels of descriptive information.
