29 APRIL - 1967

Skipped a few days as nothing new-
Working on clubs which are a mess - flying
at night.

Odd & ends -

F-4 blown up at Ubon closing the
whole field. It seems he caught fire on take
off - aborted - Engine came apart - Pilots
aborted aircraft into revetment on side
of runway. Aircraft and full load of bombs &
CBU exploded - high order ordanance explosion
Tower personel saw shockwave coming &
hit the deck - Shock blew out all the windows &
light fixtures - broke all street & security
lights within 3 blocks - Crater in Rwy -
[?] 31 ft wide 7' deep! - Talk about
a lucky crew! - collecting CBU's
scattered about was a two day job.

Club party - Welcome aboard of all
the Army people who have ]?] in - collected
$104.00 and that lasted about 1:30 at happy hour prices.

A -sham really is warming up again -
Fert took four hits in wing & tail - lots
of ground fire during CAS mission -
Joe Miller took a hit on an UR in the DMZ -
looking for some weird tours spotted on
night photography - nobyd knows what they
are.

C-Club manager relieved for cause.
He'd been padding his inventory to cover
expenses (unreimbursed) for electrical outlets
& misc supplies for building. Nothing dishonest
- just stupid & poor judgement.

121 leaves 1 Ju for Owakina - Seems
the rest of the old crew will be staging here.
Something about 90% combat ready after 7
months in Japan & sure all the are due to
rotate 1 Sept (their return date & [?] [?]) it
would wipe out then 90% combat ready.

Ken's going back with them - Evidently
because he's working on the yearbook -
I don't begrudge hime the break - Will miss him -
But can think of more important factors
to consider for no good/good decisions.

Got some good tapes on a TVQ last night

APR-23 - Den "D" rather distracting - Had
cycling [?] - No AFCS - Trying to
listen to chirps & [?] gear - and fly the
airplane - Bit of a gaggle.

-(am fading - Time to start PT & break week

CAPT Jim Dawson - [?] -
MAJOR Langford - 12C [?] -
CAPT George Romano - 12C school - Pan Am flt eng.
