THE ADVENTURE OF WRANGEL ISLAND
printed and which I was then convinced I was justified
[in] by Knight’s and Ada Blackjack’s diaries. I sin-
cerely regret that any false impressions have been given
and humbly apologize for my errors.
New York, October 19th, 1924.
For a full understanding of the true story of Wrangel
Island, Appendices I, II, III, and VII are important to
fill in the story already told. Appendices VI, VIII, IX,
X and XI are of collateral interest, while Appendices IV
and V are included in this book only to correct Mr.
Noice’s incorrect newspaper articles, and should there-
fore be ignored by all except those specially interested
in that distressing tangle. Chapter XV carries down to
the time of going to press the narrative of developments
known to us that are connected with Wrangel Island.
