Maurer

.

Dear Miss Maurer:

This is in reply to your letter of April 9th.
I was in Ottawa about a week ago and presented the Wrangel Island
case to the Canadian Cabinet. As a result, I am going on their
behalf to England to present it to the British Cabinet. It seems
likely that either the Canadian or the British Government will go
ahead with the Wrangel Island enterprise.

But whether they do or not, we shall send a ship
from Nome about a month earlier than last year. The idea is to take
off the Island the men who are there now and to replace them with
others - unless some of the men there now care to stay, in which case
there will be a composite party of new men and old on the Island next
year.

If you want to write to Mr. Maurer, the best way
is to address him in care of Lomen Brothers, Nome, Alaska. They
will be our outfitting agents.

Miss Ruth Maurer,
Box 365,
Canton, Ohio.
