Oct. 22.

Dear Mr. Stefansson:

Your letter of October 15th received. I am
expecting you to reach Canton at some time during the season.
I do hope your name will soon be announced for a lecture here,
but if not you will surely be near enough when in Ohio that you
can manage to reach Canton -- perhaps on a Sunday. Your man-
agers will hardly book Sunday appointments for you, will they?

This is the busiest time of the year for me;
there is not more than one day in the month that I could leave
the work of my department entirely in the care of my assistant,
and your nearest point to Canton is not likely to occur on my
least busy day, tho I hope it will. Yet, Mr. Stefansson, I am
sure we shall meet in spite of all obstacles.

I have referred the Coit Lyceum Bureau to
two parties in Canton who undertake local managements, and I
want them to book you for a lecture here. I wish I had had
some experience along this line myself. But taking care of
people's complaints and managing a lecture are so divergent I
could hardly hope to be successful with the latter.

Most respectfully yours,
Ruth Maurer
