Dear Sirs:

In my conversation with Mr. Pickering the other day, I
understood that he considered your Company to have received
from Toronto by telegram, or otherwise, some intimation
that Mr. Harold Noice represented Mr. A. J. Taylor or the
Stefansson Arctic Exploration and Development Company, Ltd.,
or both, not only in receiving the $3000. for cables from
Nome, but also in negotiating with you a further sale under
the option clause in your contract. After that conversa-
tion, I telegraphed Mr. Taylor, asking whether this was
correct. In reply to the telegram, which he received
only last night (apparently because of his absence from
Toronto), he called me on Long Distance telephone this
morning and made the following statement: He admits that
he did authorize Mr. Harold Noice to represent us in collect-
ing the original $3000., but denies that he gave him any
authorization to represent us in negotiating further sales,
or, indeed, in any other further negotiations. I am accord-
ingly writing the attached formal letter, so that you shall
understand clearly that in dealing with Mr. Noice you are
not dealing with anyone who represents either Mr. Taylor
personally or the Stefansson Arctic Exploration and Develop-
ment Company
, Ltd.

I have already told Mr. Pickering in conversation both
about the serious financial losses the Company will suffer
through the action of Mr. Harold Noice and also several
other distressing circumstances connected with the case.
