look at the ice. For several miles W. a wide
shore lead can be seen but no water could I
see off shore. To the South, all ice. To the East
several miles away a wide lead ran off shore
(South) for several miles, and farther East
the ice seemed to be loose. Cloudy & calm.

off shore seems to be in motion and considerable water
sky can be seen to the East. Let her blow. The harder,
the better. Drizzling rain. Cloudy & foggy. Cut wood

al sleet. No motion in the ice can be seen.

Still blowing a light gale from the East with
sleet until evening when the sleet turned to rain.
No apparent motion in the ice

The wind let up during the night and occasional
rain storm set in. During clear intervals we
were able to see that the ice had not moved.

BCrawford took a walk to the W. for a short distance.
Late in the after noon we hauled a small load of
wood from the East. Light breeze from the West
