had patiently been waiting at his seal hole now
got discouraged and started to camp. He saw the
seal that had dissapointed me and had the same
luck with him that I did. Now come the strangest
thing of all. Crawford saw a seal to the East and
started crawling "seal fashion". A drizzling rain now
started and Crawford thought that he was close enough to
shoot. He shot. The seal's head still remained up. He
shot, again and again and again. Four times all
together. And down went the seal. Instead of the seal
being 50 yds. as he thought, the seal was 125 yds.

A seal appeared twice a few hours ago, to the South,
and only stayed up for 3 or 4 minutes each time.
At last he came up seemingly to stay and Maurer
went out to try his luck. This was the same seal,
or at least a seal at the same hole that dissapointed
Maurer & I under entry of . I have just
had a look thru this binoculars at the seal and find
that he has disapointed Maurer (and all of us)
