British Royal Navy officer and Arctic explorer. In 1845, Lord Franklin set out on his last voyage and disappeared. His wife, Lady Jane Franklin, spent years trying to discover what had happened to him. To that extent, she sponsored seven expeditions between 1850 and 1875.
