to erect a snow ring and cover it with tent + tarp.
Now we are nice and warm and swilling tea like a
couple of English men. Misty to the S. and drifting
1 mile East of R. Harbor. We are anxious to get back
to camp and the only time all winter that it
has blown from the West is now And so cold that
it would be foolish to try and face it. Crawford
has some badly frost bitten fingers and cheecks
and my face is also sore so we wish to avoid
making things any worse. Feeding the dogs
on seal skins and blubber.

Broke camp at 9:45 A.M. and arrived opposite R. Har.
Graves in about 3/4 of an hour. Very bad going. Soft snow.
From the graves we followed the R. Har. --- on the out-
side and found the going excellent. We camped along the
beach about 2 mi. E. of the last winters trapping camp, also
[atleast] the lagoon. Ererected a square welled house
with canvas roof after some difficulty. Saw only
two fox tracks all day. Both several days old. Crawford
froze the big toe on his right foot rather badly to-
day and is suf suffering considerable pain now
as a consequence. Wet socks. I think. [Carlens]
All day we faced a light breeze from S.W. to N.W.
and very cold. Various fresh [bites]. Tomorrow
if Crawford is able to travel we figure on going
it a few miles, making camp and [come] going
