Dear Mrs. Maurer:

Just before Mr. Stefansson left for a lecture tour
of three or four weeks, he had an interview with Mr. Noice who had
returned from Brazil a short time before. At this interview Mr.
Noice signed a retraction and apology covering many of the essential
points of the story that he published last fall. Mr. Stefansson
has asked me to send you a copy of this apology. The apology explains
the whole situation, I believe.
