Dear Mr. Maurer :

At Mr. Stefansson’s request and with Mr. J. I.
Knight’s permission, I am enclosing a typewritten copy of
Lorne Knight's diary. I believe Mr. Knight wrote you about
it some time ago. I am sorry that I could not get the diary
to you sooner but, as you see, it is quite long, and it has
taken some time to copy it.

This is a full copy of the diary as it was
received by Mr. Stefansson. You will notice that there are
various omissions and erasures; these were made by Mr. Noice
before he turned the diary over to Mr. Stefansson.

I am sending one copy of the diary to each of
the families concerned, so it will not be necessary to return
this.
