year old), but I haven't as many records
as might be desired. Undoubtedly the
British Government will furnish something of
this kind. We can take mine also if you wish.

My heart is just aching to go, and I
hope you will answer in the affirmative.
Five or six whole years in the Wonderful
North! Ah _ ! I am anxious to
begin making plans and preparations for
the work up there.

I thoroly enjoyed your recent
articles in The World's Work. I don't believe
it will take fifty years to get the business
of rein-deering well on its feet on the Great
Plains of the North. Thirty years should be
ample time to prove the commercial value
of domesticating ovibos. Your intelligence
is leading the world one mammoth
stride forward. I hope you will live
to see both industries firmly established,
and then still longer.

I want to thank you again,
Mr. Stefansson, for The Friendly Arctic. The
more I read about the North the better
I like it, and the more I want to go with
your expedition now forming.

Most sincerely yours,

Ruth Maurer

P.S. - No, my heart isn't aching
any longer! It is now happy
in the anticipation of your
affirmative answer.
R. Maurer.
