stop here as you are passing
thru the state. We are very
ordinary folk, Mr. Stefansson. You
may not like us, but I know we
shall like you. You may find
it possible to come before your
winter's work begins.

I am very hopeful that
you will find a place for me with
the expedition of next summer. I
MUST GO. Surely the right opportunity
will come. And I want a good
hard job - one that will keep me
busy and will make me climb
in order to fill it.

As for the "hardships" - well,
I would hardly expect to have an
elegant boudoir, or the comfort of
a chaise lounge, or the luxury of a
French maid! And movies, I find,
are not at all necessary to my

[...]stence. I admit I do like a good one now
[an]d then - such colossal productions, for instance,
as the Four Horsemen.

I believe, Mr. Stefansson, if you will
find a few minutes now and then in your busy
life to think of the request I have made, the right
way will eventually develop. If we can talk
it over, that may help. I trust to the bigness
of your heart to help me satisfy my desire.

Yours sincerely,

Ruth Maurer.
