on you more heavily - I think the Wrangel affair
and the English summer must have had their effect -
- I like to think that there has been progress in friendship
and that it has not stood still with the years -
even with all the people - we did have [suntetus]
of talks - and I am glad to have said to you some
of the things I did - what you will have to say
about the book - I don't know - - - after I had come all
the way to talk over some things with you, I found
no opportunity - other cares - weighed upon you
and things that were of more importance than - a

I hope I shall have a letter awaiting me from you giving me a suggestion
of what to do if Larry's ranch is not the place for
Ada. - - - She is a little responsibility - I suppose
I should not feel it - but I do - - - - I want so
much to make it possible for you to be able to
talk to her freely and have you talk to her - When
you are out here. -

I wonder, now that I am close to it - how my
new work will go - - - [Goodnight] - P.

I wish I had you had told me all the things you
said you had thought about me - good - or the opposite!
