N.Y.

Dear Stefansson:-

I have been away for several days and
on my return find your two letters of February 24th.
Your telegram from Chicago was received about the
same time, and Mr. Anderson has withheld your cheque
until we hear from you that it is all right to put it
through the Bank.

I am particularly pleased to know that
the Wrights have not been influenced against me by the
Brewer correspondence, and I am also glad to hear that
according to your understanding our company only owes
Brewer about £465. I thought the amount would be much
greater.

Mr. Anderson is looking into the Company’s
finances to see whether there is $800.00 that could be
sent to Brewer, and as soon as he let me know I will
write to you again about this.

I am turning over the extra pages from
Knight’s diary to the Crawfords with a covering letter
as per copy attached, but I am not giving them a copy
of the New York World article.

Noice never mentioned to me that Ada had
mutilated the Knight diary. It seems to me that he is
an irresponsible liar, but I shall be surprised if he
does not get into very serious difficulties over the
interview given the New York World. I don’t see how any
self-respecting Eskimo could ever have anything further
to do with Noice after the unnecessary publicity he has
given to Ada Blackjack.
