Vilhjalmur Stefansson Esq., -2.

know approximately when you expect to be back in this country.

I am leaving for the Pacific Coast on August 13th,
and will not be back in Toronto until September 6th.

From various sources I hear of the splendid re-
ception you have received in London, and I hope that the pleasures
you have had have amply compensated you for the tedious delay in
your negotiations.

At Brown’s suggestion we fixed up an agreement
through Bone of the Toronto Star with the North American News-
paper Alliance
that provides for them paying Noice $3,000 for
the story of his expedition, and yesterday Bone sent a telegram
of instructions to Noice over my signature, a copy of which is
now attached.

We have had no acknowledgement of this from Noice,
and it may be that the developments of the next few days will
preclude both us and him from selling the story.

Yours sincerely
AJTaylor

WHO OR WHICH WAS ANNEXED?

With no wish to detract from ser-
vices rendered to his country, it
might seriously be asked whether
Allan R. Crawford has annexed
Wrangel Island or Wrangel Island
has annexed Allan R. Crawford.

So far, nobody seems to think of
rescuing Wrangel Island, but steps
are being taken to rescue Allan R.
Crawford
.

Of course, it might also be re-
membered that the crying need of
Canada is not more ice islands in the
Canadian north, but rather more
population to cultivate fertile lands
in the Canadian West.

Meanwhile hope is expressed that
if Wrangel Island is finally re-dis-
covered and re-annexed, the Toronto
Transportation Commission will not
feel it their duty to extend the street
car system to that as well as other
outlying parts.
