Dear Sir,

Your letter of the 8th March, referring
to the accounting of the three thousand dollars advanced
by the Government to the Stefansson Arctic Exploration and
Development Company
for the relief of Canadians on Wrangel
Island
, has just heen received. There has been an exchange
of correspondence between Mr. A. J. T. Taylor, your repre-
sentative, and this office, copies of which no doubt have
now been received by yon.

In your letter you refer to the total amount
of money which has been spent on the Wrangel enterprise. The
three thousand dollars was advanced to assist in providing
for the relief of four men on Wrangel Island, and I enclose a
copy of your statement of the 8th August, 1922, upon which
Order in Council, P.C. 1735, of the 21st August, 1922, was
authorized and the money wired to your agents in Vancouver,
Up to the present we have no report from your Company as to
the success, or otherwise, of the Expedition. I would like
to have a complete statement, part of which could be embodied
in the Report of the Department for the fiscal year 1922-23.

Yours very truly,
O.S.Finnie
